Fans team up to fight cancer

FOR a sports fan, there is no greater month on the sporting calendar than September.

Raging footy fans wear their team’s colours every chance they get while the bandwagon rolls by this time every winter, picking up the stragglers who have seen their favourite team fall by the semi-finals wayside.

It’s better than Christmas.

So make the most of it.

Tomorrow is Footy Colours Day, the Fight Cancer Foundation’s most important national fundraising event, held annually on September 7.

By wearing your football team’s colours and making a donation, footy fans can help  in the fight against cancer and save lives.

“We signed up because it was an easy and fun way to support a great cause,” Central Western Daily sports editor Michelle Cook said.

“Everyone has a favourite footy team so it’s good for a bit of banter at work. It gets everyone talking.

“It’s also interesting to see which codes everyone supports. League and union might be popular in NSW but I think we’ll see a few AFL jerseys on Friday.”
