DAVID Hayward took home two Australian titles and broke a record at the recent 33rd National Deaf Tenpin Bowling Championships.

The event was bowled at Ballarat over the Easter weekend and the Orange bowler excelled.
He took out the mixed seniors’ championship with a three-game series of 664.
It was the first time Hayward was eligible to bowl in the seniors’ event after turning 50 last September.
He rolled games of 234, 189 and 241 for his 664 total and the win.
Hayward took out the masters championship for the third time, after previously claiming the title in 1996 and 2003.
He qualified first for the masters and then rolled games of 243, 212, 200, 206, 288, 177 and 221 for his 1547 total and the win.
Hayward said he was thrilled to win the masters title for a third time.
He was equally happy to win the seniors event in his first time.
Hayward delivered a record on his way to finishing second in the doubles with Tasmania’s Deon Davies.
The Orange bowler started his three-game 645 series with a 279, with was a record high game in the event.
The previous record was 277 which had been rolled in the 2001 nationals in Tasmania by Queensland’s Dennis Hobbs.
Hayward also finished third in the mixed teams competition.
He missed the podium in the mixed teams, singles and men’s individual championship.
At the presentation, Hayward took out the men’s best overall average (199), an award he previously won from 1996 to 2004, and again in 2013.
He claimed the men’s individual and masters overall average prize, which he has previously won from 1996 to 2002, and then again in 2002, 2004 and 2013.
Hayward also took out the seniors most improved average.
He’s hoping to compete at the 2015 National Disability Championships in Brisbane in June.
