It is the first time the camel races are being held in Orange and organisers are hoping thousands of people will go along.
The family day out will also include a giant Easter egg hunt with 2000 Easter eggs, celebrity mower race, jumping castle, merry-go-round, markets and fancy dress fashions on the field.
Held two days after the 13th annual Forbes camel races, the event will have about 25 camels that will be brought to Orange from Rockhampton and Mount Isa in Queensland, South Australia and southern Victoria for the eight race meet.
Orange camel racing enthusiast Murray Horstman will also have two camels, Orange and Lemon race on the day.
“I’m just hoping they go right on the track,” Mr Horstman said.
“It’s the first time we’ve raced in Orange but we go to Forbes to race them on Good Friday.”
Camp Quality Central West volunteer co-ordinator Graeme Eggleston said he hoped at least 3000 people would attend the family day and there were about 5000 people at the Forbes camel races last year.
“The last I heard there were about 57 market stalls that will set up,” Mr Eggleston said.
There will be no bookmakers or tote bets on the day but people will be able to enter sweeps.
Gates will open at 10am with the first race at 11am. Tickets are $10 for adults or free for anyone under 16 who must be accompanied by an adult.
