Catherine McAuley Catholic Primary School lost out in a tight final of the boys’ competition, while Bletchington Public School’s boys’ and girls’ sides and Catherine McAuley’s girls’ team all just missed out on the finals in their respective competitions.
Catherine McAuley’s boys’ side qualified for the top two in equal first position with eventual champions Bathurst Cathedral Catholic Primary School.
The Bathurst side kicked 3.2 (20) in the final to Catherine McAuley’s 2.4 (16) to take the title by four points.
In the girls’ decider, Holy Family Primary School Kelso ran out decisive winners over Raglan Public School, winning 3.4 (22) - 1.0 (6).
“The girls’ final was a great spectacle, it was a really tight game,” AFL NSW regional coordinator, and competition manager, Matt Johnson said.
“Normally we’re centred around the Orange and Bathurst area, but if we can keep building into the Dubbo, Mudgee and Parkes regions we’d love to see more rivalry like that form. It’s great.”
The two winning sides progress to the State Final, and play off against the winners of the Southern Region at Blacktown International Sportspark in June.
