That’s why his best friend Sean Trotter will hold a charity night at Waratah Sports Club on Saturday from 7.30pm to collect much-needed funds to support Mr Quarmby through his cancer treatment.

Last year the talented martial artist was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a rare skin cancer, and has just finished radiation and chemotherapy treatment at Orange hospital.

Mr Trotter said alongside steep medical costs, Mr Quarmby who earns his living as a security guard and teaches classes at his private gym MMA United in his spare time, has been unable to work since December.

“I just want to help Benny out, and his fiance Kim Anderson, who’s stuck by him through all of this, and mainly just help him with the medical costs which are just getting pretty deep at the moment,” Mr Trotter said.

“I know he’d help anyone out who was in the same situation. He helps anyone out no matter what, he’ll give them the shirt off his back and even if it meant he’d be out of pocket it wouldn’t matter. I guess I want to return the favour because he’s done so much for the community.”

Items donated by Orange businesses and individuals, including a rare 1999 NSW Waratahs Rugby jersey, will be raffled and auctioned off, and Mr Trotter will shave his head, and said if enough money was raised on the night, he would also get a bikini wax.
