THERE’S no surprise dual Central West AFL premiership-winning coach Nathan Pearce will mentor the Orange Tigers in their bid for a title three-peat this year, but what in the world would possess the man to put his hand up to also coach three other sides at the same time?

Pearce will also take charge of the Tigers under 14 side as well as the under 18 squad. On top of that, he’s been named as the Central West representative coach too.
“Someone has to stick their hand up to do these jobs, so I thought I may as well,” Pearce said.
“To be the fair, my young bloke is in the 14s so I was always doing that job, and I have a nephew in the 18s which made that decision easier.
“In terms of the representative side, Mark Kennedy normally does it but was unavailable. The idea was floated, and I decided to do it.”
Luke Pryor and Jeremy Russell will coach the Tigers’ reserve grade squad, while Daniel Bock will have his first foray into the coaching world with Orange’s under 12 side.
“Luke and Jeremy both think a similar way to myself in terms of game plays and that sort of thing, so to have all three senior sides playing a similar way will be a massive advantage for us,” Pearce said.
“Daniel I think will do a really good job with the 12s too. We’ve got a really good coaching group in place this year, and I’m really looking forward to the season.
“I think I will need to manage my time between the two senior sides pretty well, but we train together most of the time anyway. It will more be on game day when I need to figure out the best way to do things.”
Pearce said the appointment of his club’s coaches is a huge step forward in the Tigers’ pre-season, which so far he is “very happy” with.
“We’re shaping up pretty well, we could always use a few extra numbers and experience but that’s always the way,” he said.
“I’m really interested to see what happens, and see what the other teams will bring to the table this year.”
The Tigers have accepted applications for the under 16 coaching job, but have yet to make a decision on who will mentor the side.
