Taking place on Monday, April 13 the FOOD Week event is about celebrating food and wine from across the Central West and for the first time this year a brewery has come on board.

Now into its seventh year it will be hosted by the FOOD Week Committee and the Molong Advancement Committee.

Molong committee member Kerry Connolly said this is the third year it will be hosted in Molong.

"It's on the village green and just a magical area," Mrs Connolly said.

"It showcases some of the smaller villages in the Cabonne region and there's 300 tourists come to town on that one day and they will come to explore the town again later."

This will be the fourth consecutive year Byng Street Café in Orange has been involved and owner Jeremy Norris said they would serve a Moroccan style lamb and couscous dish using local produce.

"It's something we believe in and it's something that makes sense and it makes them eat things that are in season," Mr Norris said.

Molong chef Michael Manners is also on board again this year and will team up with Adelaide Harris, also from Molong, to create a desert of poached pears set in pear jelly with chocolate mouse and hazelnuts.

"I'm a great believer in sourcing things locally and I always have been, it's fresh and you can source it directly," Mr Manners said.

"I think 100 miles (160km) is pushing it a bit but we should use as much local produce as possible, certainly Australian produce and we've seen what happens when it come from overseas."

Overnight accommodation is available in Molong and there will be a bus departing from behind Orange Civic Theatre.

FOOD Week will run in Orange and surrounding areas from April 10 to 19.

The 100 mile diet started in Canada where a couple pledged to only eat produce that came from within 100 miles of their home for 12 months.
