DAVID Reid Homes (DRH) star Tori Moore said the slippery Waratahs Sportsground surface played a decisive role in her side’s City of Orange Touch Association mixed division one touch grand final victory last Friday, by nullifying Goodooga Magpies’ stars.

DRH took the title with a tight 6-4 victory and Moore said with it being so wet underfoot, with little traction, the Magpies - known for their fleet-footedness - didn’t present the same danger as they usually would in dry, fast conditions.
“The conditions really worked in our favour,” Moore said.
“The likes of (Magpies’ stars) Sandon Gibbs-O’Neill and Gary Reilly have great footwork close to the line, and they couldn’t put that into full force in the wet.
“In fact, watching in those conditions it probably wouldn’t have looked like a top grade grand final, but it was pretty tight, which made it interesting.”
Mitch Green and Kasey Byrne starred for DRH, taking out the men’s and women’s most valuable player awards respectively, in their side’s second consecutive division one title.
“It wasn’t my second year, but it was for the majority of team (which is exciting),” Moore said.
In division two The Speed Demons defeated Patto’s & Co 7-5, while Black Thunder overcame The Seadogs 7-6 in division three.
In division four Not Sure overcame Garden Guru 8-4 while Lunatics On Pogo Sticks thumped Heifer Station 6-2 in division five and Emus Baby enjoyed a tight 6-5 victory over Mix’n It Up in division six.
NILE8 thrashed MBC 7-3 in division seven, E-lemon-aters beat Scared Shotless 5-4 in division eight, Duntry Verandahs beat Diggers 3-1 in division nine, Touch’N’Go beat Helicruz 9-4 in division 10 and Orange Small Schools won out over Team Ramrod in division 11, taking a 5-1 victory.
