One of the largest bird sales in NSW, up to 400 sellers will travel from across Australia to sell some 600 birds to avian enthusiasts.
“Last year we had sellers from all states except the Northern Territory,” society president Tony Ford said.
“There will be birds from zebra finches to macaws and black cockatoos, from $2 birds up to $20,000 birds.”
As well as birds, the event boasts several trade stands selling bird accessories for those looking to find the right products for their feathery friends.
Mr Ford hopes the sale will not only attract those already passionate about birds, but the wider community.
“It’s the biggest variety of birds under one roof. We’re hoping to encourage people to come along and see all of the different species, from native birds to the more valuable,” he said.
However, Mr Ford warned against spontaneous purchases.
“But if you’re going to buy a bird, you need to be prepared. You need the right cage, you can’t take a bird home and keep it in those small cages they give you for transport,” he said.
The sale will be held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday.
