Sunday’s Orange Bridal Expo at Orange’s PCYC proved the perfect place for brides to peruse the latest trends in weddings and receptions.
Haylie Mammoliti, who organised the event with Debbie Campbell, said there were just over 60 exhibitors at the expo with many travelling from as far away as Canberra, Victoria and Sydney.
Candy Chic’s Kristy Mansell said she’d had a lot of interest in her candy and dessert buffet business from brides looking for something different.
“It’s a fun alternative to traditional wedding favours,” Mrs Mansell said.
Brides looking for somewhere special to hold their reception had plenty of options including Koomooloo House set among Philip Shaw Wines’ vineyard.
Tracey Shaw said interest in the venue had been strong.
“People enjoy the vineyard setting and like the look of a country wedding,” she said.
Chris McIntosh, who travelled from Shepparton in Victoria for the expo, said hand-made lace dresses, made from doilies, appealed to brides wanting to incorporate family history into their wedding day.
“All of the dresses are different,” she said.
“Sometimes people want to incorporate grandma’s doilies into their dress.”
My Favourite Things’ Penny Kariyawasam hires vintage linen, props and crockery, and said demand from people wanting to “create their own style” was strong.
“It’s very on-trend at the moment,” she said.
For Renaissance Photo Booth’s Graham Schumann the event gave him a chance to showcase his business.
“There are a lot of people who are still discovering photo booths, so it’s been a good day,” he said.
