Cooking show could be your meal ticket

HOME cooks from throughout the region will get another shot at fame today when producers of Network Ten's new reality cooking series Recipe to Riches visit Orange.

Anyone who thinks they've got a winning original recipe is being encouraged to bring the dish, along with a copy of the recipe, to the Country Comfort Hotel where series producers will sample their wares.

Cooks from throughout Australia are able to compete in a number of different food categories including desserts, soups, condiments and baked goods with the eventual winner of each category taking home $20,000.

Not only will they win a cash prize but they'll also get to see their food on the shelves of a major supermarket chain.

The winners of each category will then compete to be named the top dish and win $200,000.

One of Recipe to Riches' producers Kam Vurlow said he wants anyone who's got a dish that "Australia's got to know about" to meet with him today.

"Even if it's something you made out of leftovers that turned out to be hit," he said.

Mr Vurlow said he hopes to attract cooks of all ages.

"This is open to every Australian from every walk of life," he said.

While in Orange Mr Vurlow will sample and photograph the food and interview the cooks.

"What we're looking for is a dish that can go from the kitchen table to the supermarket shelves."

Mr Vurlow expects 20 to 100 people to present their food today.

People interested in competing in the series, which will air next year, will need to go to the Country Comfort Hotel in Bathurst Road between 12 and 3 pm today. ‘
