The conservatorium launched its program for the year to an audience of 130 members, guests, volunteers and students with a concert on Friday night.
Musical director Donna Riles said there were plenty of things to see and do over the course of the next 12 months with 40 public performances and many different workshops.
The events begins on Saturday with a workshop for musicians and a public concert by Maggie Ferguson, one of Australia’s leading tango musicians.
“We’ve got plenty of visiting artists, student workshops and master classes. There are a lot of things to look forward to,” Mrs Riles said.
“We’re partnering with the Orange Regional Gallery for a piano recital with Avan Yu, who is back by popular demand, on May 13. It will be great to take his music outside of the conservatorium and into the gallery.”
Also on the calendar are the Seraphium Trio who will perform on March 5, the Gregorian Brothers on August 1 and a big Harmony Day community music workshop on March 21.
Mrs Riles said the program was well received by all who attended the launch.
“The conservatorium is a vibrant and active music hub in our city, and I think this year’s program goes towards enhancing the cultural experience in Orange.”
