These measures include the upgrading of Suma Park Dam, upgrading of the stormwater harvesting scheme and worthwhile plans for more pipelines in the area (Blayney to Orange and Molong, Cumnock and Yeoval).
It must be remembered that all of these projects were strongly argued for by the Orange and Region Water Security Alliance (ORWSA) and the Orange Ratepayers’ Association (ORPA) in the evaluation of the Macquarie pipeline.
I do honestly think that ORWSA and the ratepayers’ association had a long and lasting influence on water security matters in the area. All of the recently listed upgrades and expansions were listed in the “better options” to the pipeline by ORWSA and the ratepayers’ association.
In my opinion the Central West community owe these organisations a great deal of gratitude for influencing the direction of water security in the area.
