THE Orange Business Chamber is an apolitical organisation whose primary concern is to provide a service to the Orange business community.
My comments to the Central Western Daily in regards to the Macquarie pipeline were not meant to be inflammatory nor in any form a political statement but merely an example of the significant issues that confront council. Even if my facts were wrong, (and I am confident they were correct) most ratepayers would remember how low water supplies had become during the drought and realise that water is a significant issue for consideration by ratepayers and council and the business community of Orange whether Reg Kidd and Paul Wettin wish to acknowledge it or not.
With our dams currently at 100 per cent capacity my comments were hardly alarmist but the Macquarie pipeline continues to be a contentious issue that demands thoughtful and intelligent debate. My main concern in the article was to encourage the community to take the opportunity to attend the “meet and greet” and discuss any major concerns with Orange City Council candidates.
As president of the Business Chamber I do not wish to be involved in any political wrangling, I simply want to inform the Orange community that the chamber has arranged for the opportunity to meet the candidates for the forthcoming council elections and discuss with them their stance on important issues.
It is important for the whole community that we have a thinking and active council.
