Duntryleague takes on a high-flying Parkes unit fresh off a tight 3-2 victory over a strong Forbes line-up in the opening round.
“We’re going for three in a row this year, so getting a win first up is pretty important,” Duntryleague’s Craig Stojanovic said.
“Obviously we want to win every match we play, but (a win) here would give us some momentum.”
With no home fixtures scheduled for any side, Stojanovic said his side might harbour a slight advantage on Sunday, potentially having more knowledge of the Cowra course.
“I think we’ll have a bit of an advantage playing at Cowra,” he said.
“We all get over there a fair bit, I’m not sure how often the Parkes guys would play there other than pennants.
“But they’ll put a strong team together no doubt.”
Duntryleague has dominated the CWDGA pennants competition in recent years, and Stojanovic said his side is supremely confident after having a bye in 2015’s opening round last week.
“We’ll be right I think,” he said.
“James Conran is playing off plus one now I think, Parfy (skipper Rob Parfett) is playing pretty good golf, Payney (Robert Payne) always plays well and Deano (Dean Turner) hasn’t really been playing at all.
“We’ll have to wait and see how he goes.”
In tomorrow’s other division one pool B game Forbes plays Bathurst, also at Cowra, while in pool A Mudgee takes on Wellington at Wentworth.
DUNTRYLEAGUE: Rob Parfett (c), Robert Payne, Craig Stojanovic, Dean Turner, James Conran.
