THE 2015 school year has hardly started and already the McDonald’s and KFC boxes and assorted items from these two establishments foul the gutter and grass verge outside Canobolas Rural Technology High School, left by the lazy, selfish people that pull up outside.

It is beyond my comprehension how people can have so little pride in both themselves and their city that, after consuming the food or beverage, they tip the packaging and containers out the window or door and drive off.
It is also beyond my comprehension how the people living opposite can look out from their frontage, see the rubbish and not pick it up.
It says little for the standard they set for themselves and the environment around them.
It will be Clean Up Australia Day soon. I wonder how many of these appalling litterbugs have the unmitigated gall to become do-gooders on the day, being seen to be doing their bit, before going back to their slovenly habits afterwards.
Orange is a beautiful city, it is degraded by those who think that rubbish in the streets is acceptable.
I think that the fast-food outlets, like the above mentioned, can surely do more than just putting advice on their products regarding disposal once empty and finished with.
We see happy families on television ads indulging in the offerings from these outlets.
It is never followed by advice on responsible disposal of the waste.
It should be.
