A PATIENT seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident on Friday afternoon on the Mid Western Highway was evacuated via helicopter for medical treatment.

The accident occurred 38 kilometres east of Cowra, near Lyndhurst.
A NSW Police media spokesperson confirmed a number of crews from different areas attended the scene, where a person was trapped.
The highway was closed in both directions, with diversions in place.
