Hallie Ellice, 4, and Madison Gwynne, 5, will start at Nashdale and Orange public schools respectively next Monday.
The pair said they were excited to start learning, especially reading and art.
Hallie’s mother, Stacey, said she chose Nashdale due to the smaller class sizes.
“We thought Hallie needed a more personalised, smaller school experience and we’d heard a lot of good things about Nashdale,” she said.
“She did the transition program all last year and she loves the people. They wear the sports uniform, so she’s excited about wearing the tunic.”
For Madison’s mother, Kellie Lalor, the decision was made for her.
“We’re in the Bletchington area, but when we drove past [Orange], Madi said she wanted to go to that school when she was bigger. She was the first enrolment for the year,” she said.
“I’m excited for her, but it’s emotional for me because she’s all grown up.”
Students attending public schools in years 1-6 will start school on Wednesday, with kindergarten students starting next Monday, with the exception of Canobolas and Clergate public schools, which will start kindergarten on Wednesday, and Orange East Public School kindergarten, which will start on the following Tuesday.
