Truck takes a spill on distributor

EMERGENCY service crews were called to an accident on the Northern Distributor Road  yesterday morning after a semi-trailer carting a large load of firewood overturned at around 6am.

Rural Fire Service (RFS) Canobolas operations officer Brett Bowden said the accident, on the Leeds Parade roundabout, required the closure of a section of the road for around 90 minutes while a fuel spill was cleared up.

The RFS crews worked with NSW fire brigade officers to clean the site while police helped with traffic control.

Firewood spilled all over the nature strip adjacent to the road but that was quickly cleared away by representatives from the trucking company.

Paramedics attended the scene however the driver of the truck was unhurt in the accident.

The RFS was called back to the site around three hours after the original accident to help clear up oil that was spilled when the truck was pulled upright.
