The past 50 years at Wontama Nursing Home is steeped in tradition and the next 50 is expected to be just as successful.
That’s the opinion of housing and property services executive manager Ross Noble, who is excited about what the future holds for the aged-care service.
“We’ve been a major provider of aged care in Orange for years, and we’re certainly well positioned for the future,” he said.
“We started out very small and have continued to grow.
“That will continue as we’ve just got approval for our major redevelopment works that will allow us to move with the times and offer the best care possible.”
Mr Noble said the project included 90 new residential beds, as well as upgrades to 15 residential homes.
“We believe these upgrades will offer our residents the absolute best in aged care,” he said.
“We’ll have all areas of aged care covered and ensure a good position for us for many years to come.”
He said they had just received council approval and were in the final stages of finalising the designs.
“Construction will begin in early 2013 and will be done over two stages,” he said.
“The first stage will take around 13 months, and we hope to have the second stage completed by 2015.
“It’s very, very exciting and I think everyone appreciates the upgrades we are making and it confirms our standing as the best aged-care facility in Orange.”
