Following the success of the Midnite Cafe in Dubbo, which has run since 2007, the 10am Project has decided to test out a similar format in Orange for the SummerNights events.
“Midnite Cafe has a huge following in Dubbo. They’ve recently been able to secure a permanent spot and every Saturday night they host a Midnite Cafe,” organiser Adam Gray said.
“We really want this to be sustainable. Hopefully we will get something similar in Orange.”
The alcohol and drug free event, to be held on the lawn out the front of Wesley Uniting Church in Anson Street, will begin at 7pm, with $2 purchasing guests a cup of coffee, a piece of cake and a spot on the grass to watch a range of Orange musicians show off their talents late into the night.
“We want to promote coffee, music and a really relaxed night out under the stars,” Mr Gray said.
Also in the SummerNights series, organised by the community group, is a family festival.
The festival will be held next Sunday at the same site, with a jumping castle, fairy floss, barbecue and family activities, kicking off from 6pm and running until dark, all for a gold coin donation.
“It’s all about enjoying summer nights. We’re really keen to get events like this happening in Orange,” Mr Gray said.
