Some of the more recent books have been most alarming, with predictions of catastrophic climate change unless we quickly and dramatically reduce carbon emissions.
I have promised my wife that I won't be buying any more books on this topic, because the last and most recently book I bought is probably the most detailed and most alarming in my collection.
The books is This Changes Everything - Capitalism Versus the Climate by Naomi Klein.
Its 13 chapters and 566 pages are packed with well-researched and up-to-date information.
As one recent review (Jane Gleeson-White) concluded: “She brings together enough material to make this book essential reading for anyone who cares about the future of life on earth.”
I hope that all state and federal politicians will make time to read it. I may even send a copy to Prime Minister (coal is good for humanity) Tony Abbott.
