A meeting to decide where the four-storey aluminium sculpture will be installed was held in Sydney yesterday but no decision was made, so a second meeting has been scheduled for early next year.
Mr Plowright had originally been told the work would probably end up in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens however people from other locations, including Orange, Nowra, West Wyalong , Gosford and Wollongong, have recently expressed an interest in the sculpture.
Mr Plowright, who is still working on the sculpture, said he wouldn’t discuss the likelihood of Orange securing the artwork.
“There’s no X marks the spot yet, no final decision has been made,” he said.
“We’re going to have a further meeting to discuss that but it was a very positive meeting.”
If Orange was to secure the artwork it would be at no cost to Orange ratepayers although a fundraiser or grant would be required to pay for the transportation of the sculpture, which weighs 4.5 tonnes, and its installation.
