After a long-running stoush between the centre management and council an agreement has finally been reached which councillor Chris Gryllis said pleased all stakeholders.
“We are very pleased we’ve been able to come to an agreement,” he said.
About two years ago the centre introduced a three-hour daily limit which council claimed breached a covenant between the two entities.
The covenant said shoppers were entitled to park for at least two hours at any time free of charge in the 227 car spaces.
The three-hour daily parking limit, which would mean shoppers parking times added up during the day, even if they left and re-entered the car park, was inconsistent with both the covenant and regulations for on-street parking throughout NSW, according to council staff.
However an agreement was reached recently which will mean rangers will once again patrol the car park three random days per week.
Cr Gryllis said management had agreed to pay for the service despite previously requesting it be done for free.
“It is a much better arrangement than previously.”
Orange Central management was contacted for comment.
