IF you’re a general sporting nut, then 2014 will be a year remembered best for NSW’s superiority over Paul Gallen’s two-headed friends north of the Tweed - think State of Origin and Super Rugby, all bathed in sky blue.

That dominance continued earlier this month.
Orange-based Super Sedans sensation Lachlan Onley claimed the NSW Super Sedan Title at Gilgandra, ending a five-year run of wins from Queensland’s Darren Kane.
The 30-year-old Orange driver said the win was six years in the making.
“It’s the NSW title and it carries the number-one-in-the-state title with it,” Onley said, making the most of the meet being at the very familiar Gilgandra speedway.
“That’s my home club, so it’s nice to win it there.”
Onley was on the pace all night, claiming a heat win in the third and a second place in heat one on his way to claiming the win in the time honoured NSW title feature race.
Kane was second, perilously close to claiming his sixth NSW title in a row, with Peter Nicola in third. Wes Barnes also took out the Production Sedan feature.
Onley said the race went exactly to script.
“We started out of third position but hit the lead then led for all 40 laps,” he said.
He said despite the win, there would be no added pressure on his shoulders to defend it.
“They’re always out to get this one. A Queenslander has won it for the last four or five years, so it was nice to get it off him,” Onley laughed.
