Miss Williamson, 21, is among 22 young actors to be selected worldwide into the Professional Actors Masterclass where she will be mentored by some of Hollywood’s top casting agents in the heart of LA from January 2 to January 23.
“It’s right in the centre of it all, they throw you in the deep end,” Ms Williamson said.
“I’m hoping to stay on for pilot season after the course, they have about 120 pilots that come through and usually out of that 120, 20 shows get picked up.
“This course is just getting you as prepared as you can be for the industry over there.”
Ms Williamson is studying at high profile drama school National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney but said for a long time the idea of becoming an actor was only a dream.
“I’ve always loved film and TV and I thought that’s so great, but I thought I’m from Orange and that’s too big for me but I finished school and thought I’d give it a shot and here I am,” she said.
“I didn’t do any drama at school which shocked my teachers.
“I started at NIDA half way through last year and graduate on December 6 then I’m heading over to the states, it’s all happening a lot quicker than I thought.”
Ms Williamson was accepted into the masterclass after passing a three tier selection process through the Australian Institute for Performing Arts which included sending audition tapes to the USA and doing an audition over Skype with Lisa Beach who cast actors in Wedding Crashers and Wolverine.
Ms Williamson will hold a fundraiser for her trip at Odeon Cinemas on November with a screening of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay at 6pm.
