Tremain is set to make his debut for the Bushrangers alongside fellow first-gamer David King after Victoria released its final, 12-man squad for the four day game yesterday.
Coincidentally, Tremain will play his first game for Victoria today against his former state NSW, which he left at the end of last season in search of more opportunity.
"I'd be lying if I said I don't have a little bit more motivation in this one," Tremain laughed, while shopping for spikes after blowing out four pairs of boots in a fortnight.
"It's funny actually, I made my debut for NSW against Victoria at the MCG, now I'm playing my first game for the Vics against NSW at the same ground."
Tremain said he was confident of earning his first navy blue cap after being left out of Victoria's Futures League side, currently playing in Western Australia.
"I always thought it was a good thing when I wasn't named to go to Perth, it meant I was staying here training," Tremain said.
"I took a lot of confidence from my one day debut, and we put in a place this season a concept called radical acceptance. Basically it means accepting everything that isn't in your control, and selections is one of those things.
"So I wasn't really thinking about it too much, but it is a fantastic surprise."
Today's Sheffield Shield game kicks off at 10.30am, and Tremain said he has just one goal in the clash, to win.
"Winning is the only currency I care about," he said.
"I'd love to take some wickets, and take some pressure off myself, but that's a secondary thought.
"If I take a few wickets and we win, happy days. If I don't and we still win, happy days."
