Manager of the new facility Sue-Anne Redmond said Gosling Creek would offer a wide choice for people and families seeking care.
“It is an absolutely spectacular facility designed on a neighbourhood model to feel like a home away from home,” Ms Redmond said.
“The interest is building up with many people already on the waiting list and we have begun the process of recruiting staff.”
Residents will have their own rooms with an ensuite and balcony off each room.
“We have created plenty of opportunities for communal spaces and more private areas, and there are options for married couples to have adjoining rooms which isn’t always possible in aged care,” Ms Redmond said.
“And people will be able to personalise their own rooms which is important to people who will be making this their home.”
More than 60 new jobs are being created at the residential facility and recruiting for nursing positions has begun.
Ms Redmond said under recent changes to aged care legislation individuals and families had a variety of options to pay for a place at the facility.
These range from an up-front fee that is refundable to a family or estate, or payment through a daily fee system.
Ms Redmond said after the first round of recruitment Allity, the owners of Gosling Creek and Calare Nursing Home, would be looking to develop partnerships with Orange-based registered training organisation who offer aged care or hospitality training programs and retraining for people looking for a career change.
“Aged care is an incredibly rewarding career choice, and it is a real privilege to work in making every day the best it can be for our residents,” Ms Redmond said.
Ms Redmond said the 77-bed aged care residence would cater for low to high-care residents and incorporate spaces for people with dementia.
Allity has decided to retain Calare Nursing Home in Orange when the Gosling Creek Aged Care facility is opened.
Among the features of the design are spacious lounge areas, a coffee shop and hairdressing salon.
