So good is that reputation that Quality Inn Ambassador Orange manager Renee Cullis said the hotel had been almost booked out 12 months in advance.
“Obviously people enjoy Orange and have a really great time here,” she said.
Mrs Cullis said she had been on the phone with colleagues in the industry in Orange on a daily basis trying to find out who had free rooms for late bookers who wanted to come to the night market on Friday.
Most visitors were from Sydney and many commented on how pretty Orange was and were surprised at how many activities there were to do here.
“That’s really good to hear,” she said.
“It’s fantastic for tourism.”
The field days site at Borenore is booked out for the first time in 15 years with 532 exhibitors, about 480 of those exhibitors come from outside of the region.
On average each exhibitor brings about four staff members and many site holders had leased houses for longer stays in the region.
Taste Orange marketing manager Charlotte Gundry said the partnership the wine festival had with the field days was beneficial to both parties.
“There’s been an overwhelming, positive response. There’s a general feeling of busyness around the region,” she said.
“Generally people going to the field days are coming to the night markets.”
Ms Gundry said many people who had booked online had answered questions regarding how they had heard of the Orange Wine Festival.
“They said they’d been before and came last year or they saw us in Martin Place,” she said.
A spokesperson for the Orange City Council visitors information centre said accommodation was still available but “hard to find”.
