Throughout the three-day event, which started at Borenore yesterday, the club is running dressage and show jumping demonstrations each day.
Club president Bree McMinn said the demonstration was not a competition but showcased what the club was about.
Although people gathered to watch the dressage demonstration yesterday morning, Ms McMinn said she expected more people to come to the show jumping demonstrations, which included regular jumps as well as cross country jumps.
Visitors were also interested in a heavy horse demonstration by Jes Jonkmans, who demonstrated a long-reigning technique with her three-year-old Clydesdale filly Kate.
“It’s her first day out today, it’s her first time off the property,” Miss Jonkmans said yesterday morning.
“She’s been quite the star of the show so far with lots of pats and lots of liquorice and carrots.”
With the inclusion of horse demonstrations this year, more horse-related stalls have set up, including horse floats, horse yards, saddle makers and riding boot manufacturers.
Other horse-related activities taking place at the field days include a horse care talk by Orange Vet Hospital and an equine nutrition talk, as well as a sporting demonstration with barrels, bending and flags.
The demonstrations and talks will continue today and tomorrow at the field days site at 563 Borenore Road, 15 kilometres west of Orange. For times and details see the 28 page Central Western Daily lift out available at the gate.
