Shooting a two-over 73, Conran, 15, won by four strokes from Bathurst’s Scott Matheson.
Making his round even more impressive, Conran carded an eagle on the par four 10th - one of the toughest holes on the course.
“Yeah it was pretty exciting, it’s the first time I’ve won it overall,” said Conran, the son of Orange professional Steve Conran.
“I drove well, and even though my irons were a bit off I kept the ball in play a lot more than I normally do, consistency I guess.”
With both players’ rounds in the balance as Conran stepped up to the 10th, the eventuating eagle all but sealed Conran’s victory.
Matheson was just one group in front of Conran and sitting just a couple of shots over par through 10 holes when the yell went up.
“We yelled out to them,” Conran said.
“I didn’t see it, but they said they didn’t either. It was pretty incredible, normally I have a disaster on that hole.”
After Conran “plonked it straight down the middle”, he was left with 120 metres to the flag.
The two-marker holed his pitching wedge approach shot, and continued in a similar fashion.
In contrast, Matheson carded several bogeys over the final holes to finish six over.
Despite missing his chance to score back-to-back wins, Matheson did win the 15 years and over scratch title.
Cowra’s Laura Cummings (86) won the girls’ open division by one shot from Bathurst’s Anna McHugh.
