The program was held by Western NSW Local Health District staff in conjunction with Home and Community Care.
The program, which operated at the Curran Centre, was designed to help people recovering from depression or anxiety to be more independent and have a better quality of life by taking part in physical and social activities.
Occupational therapist Belinda Bird said research suggested personal and clinical recovery were complementary and supportive of one another.
“Recovery is more than just about improving the symptoms of an illness, both alleviating the distress associated with symptoms and assistance to manage the illness make an important contribution to recovery,” she said.
“Similarly, an increased sense of wellbeing, regardless of continuing symptoms, can help reduce symptoms and their severity.”
The older and wiser, active and healthy program, which finished this week, ran for two hours a week over an eight-week period.
