Ms Miller was named the 2014 Fairfax Media Woman of Influence in the emerging leaders category at an awards ceremony in Sydney on Monday.
The award was especially significant as Ms Miller was the only West Australian finalist for the awards and the only regional finalist in her category.
Ms Miller started her cadetship with the Mail six years ago and last year became the editor.
Fairfax Media's Head of Content for WA Doug Green said he was extremely proud that Shanelle’s achievements had been recognised on a national level.
“Shanelle is a hard worker and passionate about her job and the Bunbury community,” Mr Green said.
“She is a shining example to many other young leaders in our community.”
The judges noted Ms Miller's efforts to forge a close and positive connection with her community and for fostering a mentor scheme for Fairfax journalists in WA.
They also praised her for raising the bar on how major local events are covered.
Congratulations Shanelle from everyone here at the Bunbury Mail and in Fairfax WA.
