Held from 9am to 4pm at both Orange McDonald’s outlets, in North Orange and Bathurst Road, McHappy Day raises money for Ronald McDonald Houses across the country.

For each Big Mac sold on the day, $2 will be donated to the cause. People can also pay $1 to sign a Helping Hand that will be displayed in the restaurant. 

About $1000 has been raised so far through the sale of Helping Hands, which are already available in the Orange outlet.

A social media campaign is also in place, with people uploading photos and pledges on Instagram using the hashtag #McHappy Day and #Our Family Promise.

McHappy Day raised $1800 in Orange last year and, with the recent opening of the North Orange store, licensee and  Ronald McDonald House Orange board member Todd Bryant said he wanted to raise $3000 this year.

”We should do that, we have over $1000 raised in Helping Hands now,” he said.

Activities in Orange will include a visit by the Antique Motorcycle Club and the Harley Davidson Club, Elvis impersonator James Caulfield and the fire brigade, as well as children’s activities including face painting and golf games provided by Duntryleague Golf Club. 

Ronald McDonald House Orange is set to open in December and, like others across the country, will be able to draw on the funds raised by McHappy Day fundraisers.
