RE your front page story “North’s not done” (CWD, Tuesday, September 30) , I presume I would fall into the category described by David Shields as part of the noisy minority.

When we retired to Orange some 15 years ago, we queried the area set aside for a possible bypass route and were told that it would never happen.
Many years of experience has taught me not to believe real estate agents or councils, so I was not very surprised to have the Northern Distributor Road on my doorstep, and have learnt to live with it.
I can understand Scott Munro pushing for more development - more people, more customers - but how many of the councillors or senior council staff actually live in this immediate area?
Perhaps Judy Karamina should shop in Molong and support the local supermarket and service station, or did she think she was in Molong when she was talking about the service station near Orange hospital?
Isn’t Molong in the Cabonne shire area, which is very opposed to an amalgamation with Orange? Is it just a case of let us use all the facilities Orange has to offer and let the Orange ratepayers pick up the tab.
Those ratepayers who bought land and homes in the north Orange area when it was zoned residential before a sneaky council manoeuvre over a Christmas period changed the rules are left with traffic chaos and all the other inconveniences.
