4.35am: POLICE worked under spotlights late into the night to investigate a body that was found in a creek in Ridley Park yesterday afternoon.
A crime scene was set up after a man walking his dog alerted police when he saw what he thought was a pair of legs protruding from the creek around 4.30pm.
The clearly shaken man was questioned by police who soon confirmed his worst fears and a command post was set up at a nearby house.
Canobolas Local Area Command acting Inspector Scott Russell confirmed a dead person was found near a bridge that crosses the creek, about 50 metres from surrounding houses, but could not release further details.
Seven police vehicles surrounded the area, which is bordered by houses on McLachlan and North streets, and officers blocked public access to the park as detectives were called.
The long process of questioning residents in the area began as the State Emergency Services set up floodlights so the investigation could continue into the night.
