Six young singers and their accompanist from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music have formed the touring group to bring opera, Broadway and operetta hits to nine regional NSW towns and cities including Orange, but with an added twist.
The group, which consists of accompanist Julia De Plater, the former conductor and principal coach with Opera Australia and Oz Opera, baritone Joshua Rogers, soprano Jessica Westcott, tenor Joshua Oxley, mezzo soprano Anna McDougall, baritone Soonki Park and soprano Deepka Ratra, wants Orange’s talented performers to put their hands up for the chance to perform with them on stage when they visit the city on November 1.
Soprano Jessica Westcott sad she was looking forward to working with keen young people and encouraged schools and music groups to put forward expressions of interest now.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to get out to the central west and get some experience touring and performing, and its a great opportunity for local young singers to get up on stage with us and work with professional performers,” she said.
The concert series will include favourites from My Fair Lady, Madame Butterfly, Carmen, The King and I, The Phantom of the Opera, The Magic Flute, Into the Woods and La Boheme.
