It was lunchtime on Sunday when brazen vandals snuck up behind Sean Ryan’s skip bin, cut a cable which connected to its lights and stole a mechanical part before setting it on fire.
The skip was one of four owned by Mr Ryan, who started up his business, Anywhere Skips a little over a year ago.
He said he was extremely angry with the people who decided to destroy his property because not only did they destroy a $3500 skip bin but it meant he would be out of pocket one quarter of his usual business.
“It’s just coming into that peak season ... the weather is warming up people are spring cleaning,” he said.
The arson occurred when the bin was parked at a customer’s home in Franklin Road.
Mr Ryan said he had faith in the Orange police but did not hold out much hope of the criminals being brought to justice.
“It was in the middle of the day,” he said.
“Yet no one saw anything.”
The 25-year-old’s business is a one-man operation and the loss in revenue would be noticeable.
“I just don’t understand why they would come in and destroy someone’s livelihood,” he said.
Mr Ryan was insured for the loss of the skip bin but he believed it would be some time before it was replaced.
“Hopefully someone will foot the bill.”
