Huntley Berry Farm won a silver and two bronze medals in the Sydney Royal Regional Food Competition and Orange Mountain Wines won a silver.
“Entries are judged on taste and presentation by a panel of judges and entries are received from over Australia,” Huntley Berry Farm manager Dave Walker explained.
Huntley Berry Farm’s rum and raspberry Jam was awarded a silver medal and their strawberry balsamic vinegar and pepper jam a bronze in the sweet jam section, while their double red relish took out a bronze medal in the chutney and relish section.
Huntley berry Farm is an OCTEC-owned Australian disability enterprise and a contributor to Orange’s reputation for quality local produce.
OCTEC chairperson Jeff Whitton congratulated the OCTEC team at Huntley Berry Farm on their win.
“It means that our products are up there with the best in Australia and our customers can feel assured that they are buying a fine food product when they buy from the farm,” he said.
The Sydney Royal Regional Food Competition aims to showcase unique regional products from around Australia, embracing 37 classes within the competition including savoury, sweet and specialty and chilli products.
Orange Mountain Wines owner Terry Dolle was also pleased with the silver medal they were awarded for their Orange Mountain Verjus.
“We have entered our products in the competition a number of times and have been awarded several silver and gold medals for our verjus and wines,” he said.
In this year’s competition Orange Mountain Wines entered their clear verjus and their caramelised verjus, with their clear verjus gaining silver.
“The products are judged on a lengthy criteria a lot like that of wine,” Mr Dolle said.
“It’s great to be acknowledged, and it means that people can be assured of the quality of our products”.
