The wily fast bowler represented Orange, Mitchell Cricket Council and Western Zone as a player.
Now he has taken on the role of head coach of Orange’s representative open and colts squads for the 2014-15 season.
In a bid to increase the professionalism and performance of the open representative side, and maintain the colts’ dominance, Orange District Cricket Association (ODCA) advertised for coaches.
ODCA president Mark Frecklington said Boundy is the perfect man for the job based on skill, experience and his ability to manage a team .
“We want to show we really are committed to representative cricket, and gain some consistency,” Frecklington said.
“And by consistency I mean a consistent, experienced leader to be around the team. Dave has the pedigree and plenty of experience. We’re certain he will make a difference.
“Of course that is no disrespect to those who have done the job over the past few seasons.”
Orange celebrated its most successful season in recent years in the open division in 2013-14, albeit with just two wins, and Frecklington said the end goal is to once again improve on the previous season’s results.
“We have been slowly improving at the open level,” Frecklington said.
“But we haven’t lit the world on fire anywhere, whereas the colts have been doing well for a long time. We want to lift professionalism and get ourselves back to our former glory in a way.”
Orange’s opens’ season starts on October 12 when the Bluebaggers play Cowra in their opening SCG Country Cup game, in Orange.
Orange’s colts, the Baby Blues, take on Mudgee in a MCC grand final rematch on November 16, in Mudgee.
