With special guests arriving at the Molong showground on Sunday, and activities split over two days, the Molong Show Society members hope there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.
On Saturday, a farmers’ challenge will be held at the showground from 3pm and a free fireworks display from 7pm, with a silent disco and rock climbing to follow, but treasurer and publicity officer John Austin said the show’s main day was Sunday.
“We will have two celebrities at the show on Sunday. Costa Georgiadis from the ABC’s Gardening Australia will be there, and Helen Clare, the presenter on ABC radio on Sundays, who actually has a family connection with Molong,” Mr Austin said.
“Her family were the grocers here in Molong for a long time, and she was a reporter for Prime in Orange many years ago.”
Mr Georgiadis will open the showground’s new goat pavilion at 9.30am and take part in two question and answer sessions, before the grand parade at 1pm.
“We’re going to have a bullock team lead the grand parade,” Mr Austin said.
“The last grand parade we had was in 1964, and it was led by a bullock team, so it will fit in nicely.”
Pavilion displays, animal shows, a pet parade, show girl competition, side show attractions, vintage cars and music from the City of Orange of Brass Band are also on the schedule.
Admission to the showground on Euchareena Road will cost $10 for adults, $5 for pensioners and children under 16, with kids under five free.
