Family-run Ross Hill Wines took out two gold medals and a trophy for the best sauvignon blanc.
Co-owner James Robson said he was excited about such a big achievement, with the 2013 Pinnacle Ross Hill Sauvignon Blanc and 2014 Ross Hill Pinot Gris winning gold medals, and the 2012 Ross Hill Tom & Harry Cabernet Sauvignon winning a trophy for best cabernet sauvignon.
“It is such a great achievement that proves we can make great wines in Orange,” he said.
“They are well-recognised awards in the wine industry that have already increased Ross Hill sales.
“We are so happy to have our wines commended at such well-recognised competitions.”
Ross Hill wines are continuing on the path of success, with winemakers Phil and Rochelle Kerney being nominated as finalists in the Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine’s Winemaker of the Year competition.
Ross Hill Wines will present their wines at the upcoming Orange Wine Show, NSW Wine Awards and the National Boutique Wine Awards.
Twisted River Wines owner Michelle Davies is pleased her 2013 Viognier received a gold medal in the same competition.
This is the first year the boutique vineyard has entered the Winewise Small Vigneron Awards and Ms Davies is excited by its success.
“Our viognier has been consistently rating well amongst a number of competitions, it’s not just a flash-in-the-pan type wine,” she said.
“I must commend our wine makers Chris Derrez and Lucy Maddox on Twisted River’s achievements.”
Ms Davies hopes the 2013 viognier will continue to achieve success in the upcoming NSW Wine Awards and the Bathurst Wine Show.
Ms Davies said winning awards was always good for wine sales.
“People always look for the medal on the label,” she said.
