The attempt to break the record for the most people performing push ups was performed by students and teachers at Year 12’s final whole school assembly.

The previous record was set at 352 people, which was held by Laboratorios Silanes in Mexico. 

Flexing his biceps, principal David Lloyd said the attempt was a tip of the hat to the sporting legacy the year 12 students would leave behind when they walked out of the gates for the last time on Friday.

“Our hockey team got second at state, our netball team got second at state, we’ve got a student who got into nationals for squash and our soccer team beat all the teams in the central west. This is just a way to build on from that,” he said.

The idea for the record attempt came from the Year 12 students, who wanted to do something out of the box for their final assembly, which was held on the front lawn of the school.

Mr Lloyd said he would be sad to see the students leave, and praised them for their leadership and school spirit throughout the year.

“They’re terrific. They really are a wonderful year, a great group of students and good role models for the rest of the school,” he said.
