Every dollar helps and an extra $11.50 a fortnight for singles and $17.40 extra for couples will assist with the rising costs of living.
Parenting Payment, Newstart Allowance, Parenting Payment Partnered, Widow Allowance, Partner Allowance and Sickness Allowance recipients will not miss out, receiving an extra $5.20 a fortnight for singles and $4.70 for couples.
It’s the second rise announced this year, and proves the Coalition is sticking to their election promise to make sure pensioners are being looked after.
I HAD the pleasure of speaking at the Forbes Citizenship Ceremony last Thursday.
I must say, it was great to see so many faces from different nationalities keen to become part of our country, and the best part was they ranged in age from toddlers right through to adults.
To see such genuine excitement from those who participated in the ceremony was a big thrill and I was honoured to be part of the day.
Hats off to Forbes City Council mayor Ron Penny and his staff who organised the event, and to Richard Morgan who played a beautiful rendition of the Australian national anthem.
I wish all our newest residents a bright and prosperous future.
IT’S been a massive month of sport in the region with a range of grand finals held, and this weekend was no different.
A big congratulations to St Pat’s, who bounced back to score a big win over Cowra 34-12.
Also, well done to the Orange Tigers, who managed to win back-to-back Aussie rules grand finals, topping off a great year with a strong win over Bathurst.
On the other side of the coin, commiserations to Orange Emus who failed in their Central West Rugby Union premiership quest when they lost to Dubbo.
Still, to come from the wooden spoon last year to a grand final appearance this year is something all the players and coaches should be proud of.
