Working with Migrant Support Services, Colour City Creatives and the newly formed Orange Culture Hub, head coordinator Vince Lovecchio has created a program of art, music and food workshops that embodies the festival’s theme - A Community of Cultures.
While the festival is aimed primarily at school students, who will have the opportunity to participate in over 30 different educational events, the public is invited to attend events like Global Rhythm, Indigenous Sky Stories, a series of six master classes and the Cultural Festivity Day on September 7.
Mr Lovecchio said the festival was all about bringing Orange’s mix of cultures together and celebrating the diversity of the city.
“[The festival] provides a unique platform of opportunity for relationship building, intercultural exchange, community dialogue and the collective sharing of resources and ideas,” Mr Lovecchio said.
“The festival’s long-term objective is to build and strengthen the community’s capacity to provide all young people with opportunities for lifelong learning, healthy living and the citizenship skills and values that will help them to actively engage and contribute to community.”
