The Orange and District Pistol Club will host the NSW State Service Pistol titles this weekend.
The state titles are an important part of the NSW pistol team selection process for the 2013 National Pistol Championships in Perth.
NSW took out the 2012 national title with the help of Brus and Oates.
Tamworth’s Don Pollard was also part of the successful NSW team and will be keen to stay in the side for 2013.
All three shooters will have to be on their game this weekend to book their tickets to Perth as several of the NSW squad members and previous team members, in Cowra’s Greg Armstrong, Muswellbrook’s Martin O’Brien and Robbie Oliver from the Blue Mountains, will be working hard to cause an upset.
Other members of the Orange club to compete this weekend will be NSW 25m Service team member Max Wicks, as well as service pistol newcomer Lara Cowling, who is a current NSW team member for ISSF Olympic match 25m Pistol .
This will be the first NSW titles held at the Orange club since the facility completed upgrades as a result of a grant from the Department of Sport and Recreation.
The Orange club now boasts a world class facility and this should complement a great weekend of shooting for all competitors.
