The Orange College Student Hub was officially opened on Monday and will become the go-to place for students who need help with issues such as counselling, career, advice or learning assistance.
However, TAFE Western institute director Kate Baxter said the hub would be so much more.
“Our hub is the place we want people to come and find out more about their options for study and what type of assistance they may be eligible for,” she said.
“But it may also be a space where students might just need to come and relax while they are at campus or seek help with their course material.”
Ms Baxter said the new hub, created at the rear of the library, would be a one-stop-shop for students to connect to services.
Member for Orange Andrew Gee said $400,000 funding from the state government to set up the hub was an excellent investment in the students.
He paid tribute to the work of TAFE Western for engaging students who wanted to return to study.
“This is a wonderful initiative which has revolutionised the way services are delivered to students by TAFE,” he said.
Ms Baxter said staff were already on duty in the hub to speak with people considering studying at TAFE.
