THERE was no horsing around for Geurie’s Freya Rushton as she took out the two main events in last Sunday’s Orange Equestrian Club (OEC) Showjumping Spectacular, at Orange Showground.

Aboard Italian Magic Man, the 17-year-old secured first place in both the Highland Heritage 110cm class, and the Southern Stars Saddlery 120cm class.
“Freya is a very dedicated rider,” OEC publicity officer Jes Jonkmans said.
“She has been riding since before she could walk and rode a number of horses during the competition on the day. She rode very well.”
Forbes’ Melissa Jasprizza also took out two titles aboard her steed Lizzy, winning the Orange Vet Hospital 100cm and Pryde’s Easi Feed 90cm classes.
“She is well known around the showjumping circuits with many wins under her belt,” Jonkmans said.
In the other classes Orange’s Kristen Pringle, riding Reggie, took out the Ride’n’Shine 80cm class, Orange’s Naomi Crossley won the Jana Poppe Dressage Training 70cm class on Toots, and Cowra’s Megan Bryant came both first and second in the Kellyville Pets 60cm, riding Bambourough Amber Star and Istemela respectively.
“The event was an overwhelming success,” Jonkmans said.
“We had many of our sponsors and quite a few spectators enjoy some great displays of showjumping throughout the day.
“We have had very positive feedback from riders and spectators alike and the help we received on the day to make it run smoothly was outstanding.
“From here, we hope to be able to run monthly competitions to further expand the equestrian sport in the central west.”
