Plagued by player unavailability and injury in the back half of the Group 10 League Tag season, Orange CYMS has endured an inconsistent lead-up the finals and five-eighth Tori Moore said her side needs to lift in Saturday’s qualifying semi-final.
CYMS hosts Bathurst St Pat’s at Wade Park, a side the green and golds thrashed 40-6 in round nine, but drew 18-all with last weekend.
“We barely fielded a side at one stage toward the end,” Moore said ahead of the women’s match.
“There have been a few good games but we definitely have not played to our potential. Hopefully the draw gives everyone a bit more motivation, we aren’t great losers.
“We haven’t played well in our last four games or so, so we’re due for a big one.”
Moore said her side would draw on its finals experience from last season - CYMS finished second - in Saturday’s clash, but conceded St Pat’s will be thinking the same way.
“We’re pretty even in that aspect I guess, Pat’s know how to win as well,” the 21-year-old playmaker said.
“I think it will come down to who can control the ball better. Defence is key as well, you can’t lose if they don’t score.
“We’ll be focusing on completing our sets and keeping pressure on them in their own half, hopefully some points can come off the back of it.”
CYMS and St Pat’s kick-off at 10.30am.
