Carmel Follent has 25 years’ experience working with children in the central west under her belt, and is excited to make a difference to the lives of children and their parents in Orange.
Mrs Follent said her interest in music therapy and child development had led to a fulfilling career, and she enjoyed getting the whole family involved in a child’s musical development.
“I just love seeing children respond to music,” Mrs Follent said. “When they’re clapping along to the beat it’s just fantastic.
“Watching a child try something like hopping, or playing the beat for the first time and then seeing their faces light up when they master it is extremely gratifying.”
The bubbly music teacher was previously at Dubbo’s Macquarie Conservatorium, and had also lived in Canowindra where she was heavily involved in music programs with young people.
Musical director Donna Riles is thrilled to have such a skilled professional music educator at the conservatorium.
“Carmel brings with her a wealth of knowledge and insight to the development of children and how music can enrich their lives,” Ms Riles said.
“The conservatorium strives to inspire individuals and the community by delivering excellence in music programs, and the early childhood music program enriches the lives of so many children and families.”
